Oak Path

Who’s actually
doing your books.

Oak Path keeps the books for US property portfolios. It is run by an ex-EY accountant — Sage Intacct certified, seven years into keeping other people’s books clean, including a year spent on the lender’s side of the table. Here’s the background.

Franklin, Michigan — serving clients across the United States.

01 The practice

Big-4 trained.
Lender tested.

Most bookkeeping outfits are built from one direction — someone who learned the software and scaled it. Oak Path was assembled from four: audit and advisory at EY, fund operations on the buy side, credit analysis for an Australian lender, and bookkeeping inside a UK practice. Different rooms, one habit — the number has to survive somebody checking it. In property that somebody is an underwriter.

That combination shows up in unglamorous places. Reconciliations that actually tie out. A chart of accounts designed for the questions you’ll ask in eighteen months, not just the ones your tax preparer asks in March. Reporting written in sentences, because a variance nobody explains is a variance nobody acts on.

We work with residential portfolios from a handful of doors to a hundred and fifty. The size varies. The standard doesn’t.

02 Who you work with

Seven years of other
people’s books.

Bookkeeping & Accounting · Ex-EY · Sage Intacct Certified

Bookkeeping, payroll and month-end close for US and Canadian businesses — seven-plus years across QuickBooks, Xero and Sage Intacct, keeping books clean, payroll on time, and financials decision-ready.

The work is full-cycle: daily transaction recording, bank and credit-card reconciliations, AP and AR, and audit-ready books closed on schedule every month. Month-end and year-end close for multi-entity organisations — accruals, reconciliations, consolidated statements and KPI dashboards, delivered to leadership with commentary a non-financial reader can act on.

Payroll runs end-to-end for 50-plus employees, including tax withholdings, statutory deductions and on-time disbursement, hands-on across ADP, Gusto and in-platform payroll. Budgeting sits alongside it: rolling budgets, variance reporting, and profitability by client, department and service line.

Sage Intacct Certified Consultant, plus AI Data Analytics through LUMS CES. Working hours overlap both EST and PST.

03 Where the standard came from

Six roles, four countries’ books.

04 How we work

Four commitments,
and what they cost us.

Values are only worth printing if they’re expensive. These are the four we hold when holding them is inconvenient.

What sets us apart?

A strong commitment to reliability, transparency and results — which is why we’re more than just accountants. We’re your trusted financial partner.

Our core values

Integrity. Accuracy. Client-centered.

Ultimately, we help you turn your chaos into clarity — and your goals into growth.

01

Reliability over responsiveness

A close that lands on the same date every month is worth more than a fast reply at 11pm. We commit to a schedule and we protect it — which sometimes means telling you a request lands in next month’s cycle rather than pretending otherwise.

02

Transparency, including the unflattering kind

If the books were wrong, we say where and why. If a clean-up will take longer than quoted, you hear it while there’s still time to decide, not in the invoice. If we’re not the right fit, we say so on the first call.

03

Judgement, not just output

Anyone can send a P&L. The value is in the sentence that goes with it — what changed, whether it matters, and what you might do about it. Every reporting package carries commentary.

04

Discretion as a default

Financial records are the most sensitive documents most businesses hold. Access is limited to the people doing the work, credentials are never shared, and nothing about a client engagement is discussed outside it.
