Privacy notice

This notice explains what Oak Path Accounting and Advisory Services (“Oak Path”, “we”, “us”) collects through oakpath.us, why we collect it, and what rights you have. Information we hold about you as a client under a signed engagement letter is governed by that engagement and by our professional confidentiality obligations, in addition to this notice.

1. What we collect

• Information you give us. Name, business name, email address, telephone number, the stage your books are at, and whatever you write in the message field of a contact or booking form.
• Information collected automatically. Standard server and analytics data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page and timestamps.
• Scheduling information. If you book through an embedded scheduling tool, that provider collects the details you enter under its own privacy notice.

We do not ask for and do not want passwords, banking credentials or full account numbers through this site. Please never send them by unencrypted email.

2. Why we use it

• To respond to your enquiry and arrange a call.
• To provide and administer services you have engaged us for.
• To operate, secure and improve the site.
• To meet legal, regulatory and professional record-keeping obligations.
• To send you material you have specifically asked to receive.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

3. Legal bases

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing services you have requested); our legitimate interests (responding to enquiries, securing and improving the site); legal obligation (accounting and regulatory record-keeping); and consent where we ask for it, which you may withdraw at any time.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate — website hosting, email, scheduling, form handling, accounting and document platforms — each acting on our instructions under contract. We may also disclose information where required by law, regulation or a valid legal process, or to establish or defend legal claims. We may transfer information as part of a business reorganisation, subject to this notice.

5. International transfers

Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where information moves out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become engagements are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted. Client records are kept for the length of the engagement and for as long afterwards as professional, tax and legal obligations require — typically at least seven years. Server logs are kept for a short operational period.

7. Cookies

The site uses cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary for it to function, and may use analytics cookies to understand which pages are useful. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off without affecting how the site works. If we add non-essential cookies, we will ask for consent first.

8. Security

We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of financial records: access limited to people who need it, encrypted transmission, and secure platforms for document exchange. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you; to have it corrected or deleted; to restrict or object to processing; to receive it in a portable format; to withdraw consent; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of them, email info@oakpath.us. We will verify your identity before acting and will respond within the period the applicable law allows. UK and EU residents may also complain to their supervisory authority.

10. Children

The site is intended for business users and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-party sites

Links and embeds lead to services we do not control. Their privacy notices govern what they collect.

12. Changes

We may update this notice. The version published here, with its stated date, is the one that applies. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
